Oven-baked onion rings.

These onion rings are vegan, gluten-free and FAT-FREE. Made with just a few simple ingredients. They are the healthiest and taste much better than the fried version. They are so incredible, absolutely have to try this recipe!

Servings 2 people


  • 1 large yellow onion sliced
  • 3/4 cup non dairy-milk of choice
  • 1 cup gluten-free all purpose flour or whole wheat flour
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 cups panko bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp salt


  1. Preheat oven to 180 celsius. Place bread crumbs on a baking sheet and bake 4-5mins until golden brown. Transfer to a shallow dish.

  2. Set up your dredging station in 3 shallow dishes. 1st bowl for the flour, salt and cayenne pepper, whisked together. 2nd bowl for milk, apple cider vinegar and 3 tbsp cornstarch. 3rd bowl for the panko bread crumbs.

  3. Take one onion slice. Dip into milk mixture, shake off excess, then dredge it in flour, shake off excess, dip into milk mixture again, then in the panko bread crumbs so it is covered. (dip into milk mixture, flour, milk and then panko)

  4. Lay each breaded ring on the baking sheets in a single layer. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown. 

  5. Allow the onion rings to sit out for 10 minutes before digging in. Enjoy immediately.
